There is a strong Tipperary influence in the Ireland Shinty setup for Saturday's international clash in Cork

Two Tipperary hurlers have been named in the Ireland squad for this weekend's Hurling/Shinty International against Scotland, which takes place at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, October 24.

JK Brackens' Andrew Ormond and Nenagh Éire Óg's Sam O'Farrell are among the 20 players selected for the cross-code encounter, which throws in at 6pm. Ormond's inclusion comes on the back of an impressive club championship campaign, where he played a leading role in JK Brackens' journey to the county senior hurling semi-finals.

The talented forward was one of the standout performers for the Templemore side, who came agonisingly close to reaching the county final before suffering a narrow defeat to Moycarke Borris.

O'Farrell, meanwhile, has also enjoyed an impressive period in his hurling career, having been part of the Tipperary panels that captured All-Ireland senior and U20 honours in 2025.

There will also be a strong Tipperary presence on the Ireland management team, with former Premier County senior hurling manager Eamon O'Shea taking charge of the side, assisted by former Tipperary captain Tommy Dunne.

Kilkenny's Mikey Butler will captain Ireland, with Cork's Séamus Harnedy and Waterford goalkeeper Billy Nolan also included in the panel. Saturday's fixture forms part of an international double-header, with the Ireland and Scotland camogie/shinty teams meeting at 4pm before the men's encounter at 6pm.
