The popular musical society hosted a launch night for The Lino King pantomime at the Strand Theatre in Carrick-on-Suir last week

Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society will host auditions this weekend for its 2026 pantomime – The Lino King – that will be staged at the Strand Theatre in Carrick from Tuesday, October 20 to Saturday, October 24.

The panto will be loosely based on the hit Disney animated musical film The Lion King, so audiences can look forward to hearing some of the famous songs from that show.

Details about the pantomime were unveiled at a launch night at the Strand Theatre last Wednesday, which was attended by about 35 people.

Carrick Musical Society PRO Siobhan Grace-Regan, who is the show's chorus mistress, said auditions for the show take place at the Strand on Sunday, September 6 from 12 noon onwards. She invited anyone interested in taking part in the show to attend them.

Rehearsals start next Monday, September 7 at the theatre at 7pm.

The show will feature a large contingent of young performers from Carrick Musical Society's Academy of Performing Arts. They will begin preparing for the show once their new term begins next Thursday, September 10.

The Lino King script was written by husband-and-wife team Sandra and Conor Power, who are the pantomime's director and production manager respectively.

Other members of the production team are choreographer Lana Walsh and assistant director Claire O'Hara.
