Tipperary students honoured for Back to Education Initiative success

Students honoured come from Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel and Tipperary Town.

Tipperary ETB’s Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) Awards took place at the Army Barracks, Clonmel, recently.
BTEI offers a return to learning for adults that is part time and flexible. Courses run all over Tipperary and offer students the opportunity to engage in learning from QQI Levels 3-5. Students can progress from the lower levels of education to courses that are employer focused and can take part on work placement to enhance their opportunities of moving into employment.
MC for the event was Kathleen Grimes, Tipperary ETB’s BTEI coordinator. Eileen Condon, director of Further Education and Training, and Kaye Mullaney, adult education officer, both spoke at the awards. They expressed delight at celebrating adult learning, thanking all staff and tutors involved in delivering the programme along with the learners who attended.
Further Education and Training committee members Liam Ahearn, Eddie Gleeson, Donnacha McNamara and Toni Gleeson presented QQI Awards to students who completed Learning for Everyday Living; Using Information and Communication Technologies in Everyday Life; Office Skills; Sports, Recreation and Exercise; Business Administration; Healthcare Support; Early Childhood Care and Education; and Culinary Skills. Certificates were also presented to those who completed English for Speakers of other Languages Level 4.
The students honoured come from Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel and Tipperary Town. They have been attending courses over the last two years and have completed at least six subjects for Level 3 or eight subjects for Level 4 and 5. Many of the students who have completed Level 5 are now working part-time or full-time.
Congratulations to all BTEI students who received QQI Awards this year.
