On your bike! ISPCA urges animal lovers to join 'Cycle Away from Cruelty' campaign

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) is urging animal lovers to get involved in their new anti-cruelty campaign.

The 'Cruelty No More' campaign marks the launch of Ireland's first-ever National Animal Week, which aims to address the increasing cases of animal cruelty and abandonment across Ireland while promoting responsible pet ownership and welfare.

The ISPCA has announced a series of events to coincide with the awareness week, with the highlight being the 'Cycle Away from Cruelty' fundraising event on Saturday October 7.

Cyclists including the board and senior management of the ISPCA will embark on a 16.7km journey circuit starting and finishing at the ISPCA's Wicklow Animal Centre to raise funds for their vital work.

A spokesperson for the ISPCA stated, "We would ask the public to join us in their own 'Cycle Away from Cruelty' around the country - this event offers a unique opportunity for participants to combine their love for animals with an enjoyable outdoor activity."

The ISPCA is also continuing national emergency appeal to support the renting of external animal shelters for dogs, medical expenses, and other essential care for animals in need.
