The Munster Masters Cross Country Championships were held in the Turnpike, Two-Mile-Borris.
It was a very windy day but the rain held off. The ground was extremely mucky and sticky in the lower half of the course, due to the heavy rain and snowfall in the days leading up to the race. It was a two-lap course of 2k.
In the women’s race Dundrum AC had seven athletes competing. Dymphna Ryan, continuing her fantastic form, was the clear winner of the race in a time of 13:52 and won the Over 40 gold.
Also running really well for Dundrum Ac were fifth Linda Grogan 15:50 (fourth Over 40), eighth Catherine Fogarty 16:12 who won silver Over 45, 13th Karen Coughlan 16:25 (sixth Over 40). These four won the Over 35 Munster Club team event and were clear winners with a 24-point lead.
Next, we had 21st Emily Leahy 17:35 (eighth Over 40), 29th Laura McCarthy Armstrong 19:11, winning bronze Over 35 in her debut in this championship. She was closely followed by 30th Mairead Julian 19:19 ,who won bronze Over 50. Dymphna, Linda, Catherine and Eileen McCullagh (Moyne AC) were Munster and champions with a 33-point lead.
The men raced over 7k, completing two and a half laps. First home for the club with a great run was seventh Barry Hartnett 23:24 who won bronze Over 40.
Next, we had 45th Patrick Ryan 27:54 (fourth Over 55), 53rd Gerry O’Neill 28:50 (tenth Over 40), 57th Ruaidhri Devitt 29:20 (12th Over 40), 62nd Michael Moore 29:54 (sixth Over 60), 63rd Jim Halley 30:07 (seventh Over 55) and 65th Sean Bryan 30:48 (eighth Over 55) who made his debut in this championship.

The club Over 50 team was fifth and Barry was on the county team that won silver.
