Willie O'Donoghue and Tom Blackburn, Mooreabbey Milers AC, with fellow county men, Dundrum AC's Michael Moore and Jim Hally at the Clonmel AC MSD 4 Mile Road Race
Mooreabbey Milers AC has issued an invitation for people who are interested in running or getting fit to join the cub.
"Joining a club can only enhance the experience of being a runner whether it's through competition, group running, support or advice.
"As it turns out, running with a group is one of the best ways for beginners to gain their footing (pun intended). We are a 'no pressure' club and running community, striving and providing an environment to be inclusive of different levels and abilities that add to a runner's options.
"We are a friendly and welcoming club that loves a chat, tea and a sandwich after a race.
"Some of activities within the club are:
"Couch to 5k Adult and Juvenile Training.
"Juvenile training takes place on Monday nights throughout the school term at 7pm, with qualified coaches in the community field in Galbally, E34 Y540. For insurance purposes juveniles have to be registered with the club and can register from their 8th birthday.
"Patricia Blackburn's couch to 5k runs concurrently with juvenile training on a Monday night between 7pm to 8pm, so why not take the opportunity to get some steps in while your children spend an hour at training. There are two programmes of choice on the night, a beginner's session and an improvers session.
"Adult training sessions takes place on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7pm to 8pm in the community field, Galbally E34 Y540.
"Newbies are always welcome so should you have an interest in joining us at our training sessions please contact us for a two night trial taster session before cementing your commitment.
"Contact us through any of our social media platforms facebook/messenger or email tricia.ryan@hotmail.co.uk
"Adults also do hill/mountain and trail training. By becoming a registered member you will get the added benefit of being included in the club's WhatsApp to keep up to date with training/races and events and avoid having to purchase a one-day licence for open races".
