Sharlene Mawdsley posts picture with Tipperary hurler Michael Breen after Waterford win

Tipperary Olympian and sprinter Sharlene Mawdsley from Newport posted a picture with Tipperary senior hurler Michael Breen of Ballina that sent social media into a frenzy

Tipperary Olympian and sprinter Sharlene Mawdsley from Newport posted a picture with Tipperary senior hurler Michael Breen of Ballina after the Premier County's victory over Waterford in Thurles on Sunday. 

The Newport AC athlete was among the thousands of supporters who had packed Semple Stadium for the crunch Munster SHC.

Sharlene posted the picture with the caption: "Tippin' on."

Many fans were raving about the gold medalist - who posed for pictures with fans - and described her as "such an amazing sporting model for the girls".

Sharlene herself posted on her Instagram and said it was a "good day" and it was for Tipperary fans.

After an enthralling game of hurling, it was Liam Cahill's men who booked their place in the All-Ireland series with a 1-30 to 1-21 win.

The 2021 Olympian made her way down to the pitch to join in the celebrations, where she beamed in a picture alongside Tipperary corner-back Michael Breen.

Fans took to the comments under the Instagram post bearing the photograph to gush over what they called a dream team.

One said: "Awe love this" while a second posted: "Dreamy Team" and a third commented: "What a fab day for us and ye"

A fourth said: "Awwwwwww shar about time" and a fifth hailed: "Great performance, Great picture, UP TIPP"

And a sixth praised: "He played so well."

Tipperary had not beaten the Déise in the Championship since 2019.

Sharlene anchored the mixed 4x400m relay team to a historic gold at the 2024 European Championships and led the women's 4x400m team to a silver medal at the same event.
