Cahir Day Care Centre has received a significant boost with the announcement of €83,451 in CLÁR funding towards the purchase of a new community transport bus.

The funding comes at a crucial time, as the Centre’s existing bus requires costly ongoing maintenance.

The new vehicle will not only support current service users but will also allow the Centre to expand its reach to more older people across the Cahir area.

The successful application followed the Centre’s fundraising campaign launched earlier this year.

Cllr Máirín McGrath encouraged and assisted the committee in submitting the application under the CLÁR Programme, while Deputy Mattie McGrath also supported the application and raised the matter with Minister Dara Calleary in recent months.

Welcoming the announcement, Cllr McGrath said:

“This funding is hugely positive for Cahir Day Care Centre and for the older members of our community who rely on its services. The new bus will provide safer, more reliable transport and will allow the Centre to reach even more people in the Cahir area. I want to commend the committee for their tireless work and dedication in ensuring the best possible supports for our older population.”

Both Cllr McGrath and Deputy McGrath congratulated the committee of Cahir Day Care Centre on their hard work and excellent service to the wider Cahir area.

In conclusion, they added:

“We wish Cahir Day Care Centre continued success in the years ahead. There is no doubt that this new bus will be a huge boost to the Centre and to all those who benefit from its services.”
