Councillor Máirín McGrath brought up the motion during the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District meeting this week

Councillor Máirín McGrath brought up the issue of street lights not working in the Dun Uisce housing estate in Cahir during today's council meeting.

She called for the council to help fix this issue as it is getting darker and darker closer to winter and residents are worried about anti-social behaviour on the estate.

McGrath said that even though some houses on the estate are council owned, it is a private developer that owns the housing estate in Cahir.

Sharon Kennedy of Tipperary County Council responded that she would contact the person who's responsibility it is to ensure that "the council takes into charge estates that have significant issues with infrastructure."

"We need to watch it in terms of budgetary implications but we are very mindful of the implications for the people living in those estates in terms of their wellbeing and safety. Its not good enough for us to say we don't have the money we do try and find solution, it’s an ongoing process."
