No ice or free water in town in Tipperary due to boil water notice

A visitor described finding a local pub without ice and tourists being charged for bottled water as the prolonged boil water notice continues to affect businesses and the visitor experience in Cahir
Frustration is continuing to grow in Cahir as ongoing water issues are causing problems for homes and businesses in the area, particularly during the heatwave.
A recent visitor to the town told Tipperary Live that when they finally escaped the long queue of traffic they encountered in the town, they decided to stop in to a local pub for a cold drink.
The visitor was perplexed to find out the pub had no ice due to the boil water notice in place for the town’s water supply.
They then witnessed a group of tourists, who were visiting the historic town, be told they must pay for water due to the same issue.
The boil water notice (in place since June 7 for homes and businesses supplied by the Ardfinnan Regional Public Water Supply) has created additional pressure at a time when the town is welcoming visitors during the summer season.
While roadworks are being undertaken by Uisce Éireann to replace ageing water infrastructure, these upgrades are expected to improve the reliability of the town’s water supply and help address issues such as those currently affecting Cahir.
However, there are concerns that the water supply issues could leave visitors with a negative impression of the town during their stay.
