BREAKING: Gardaí confirm body of male recovered from River Suir in Carrick-on-Suir

A man has died after getting into difficulty in the River Suir near Carrick-on-Suir on Tuesday, July 1, gardaí have confirmed.

A Garda Press Office statement said gardaí were alerted to an incident where a male encountered difficulty in the water in Carrick-on-Suir at approximately 8:30pm on Tuesday.

"His body has since been recovered from the river. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigations are ongoing," the garda statement added.

The incident is understood to have occurred in the river at Tinhalla, county Waterford just outside Carrick-on-Suir town.
