Carrick-on-Suir’s Fairgreen Playground will close for a short period later this year while renovation works are being carried out on the amenity.

That was the news District Administrator Marie Cox conveyed to Carrick Municipal District councillors when she updated them on the project at their monthly meeting in Carrick-on-Suir Town Hall.

Ms Cox informed the meeting the Council has received the tender for the playground revamp project.

It’s understood the Council is now working on appointing a contractor.

The local authority has secured a Capital Play & Recreation grant of €16,443 along with a €50,000 Community Recognition Fund grant for the upgrade of the playground and is also investing its own funding from the General Municipal Allocation fund into the project.

Several new pieces of play equipment suitable for children with disabilities are among the improvements that will be carried out to the playground as part of the renovations.
