Jack O'Brien and Joe Fogarty were among the goals as Moneygall advanced to the last 32, while there was plenty of drama across the North Tipperary and District League.

Moneygall booked their place in the last 32 open draw of the Munster Junior Cup for the second consecutive season following an impressive victory over Ardcroney, with Jack O'Brien and Joe Fogarty both helping themselves to braces.

It was another hugely encouraging performance from the Moneygall attacking duo, who have been in excellent form in recent weeks and look to be hitting their stride at an important stage of the season.

For O'Brien, it has taken a season at Premier Division level to rediscover the electric form that made him such a dangerous proposition in the First Division, although his recent involvement in the Oscar Traynor competition may also have played a part in his resurgence.

Either way, the 26-year-old looks to be back to his best, with his stunning daisy-cutter from 25 yards arguably the pick of the goals against Ardcroney.

Fogarty, meanwhile, continues to make a major impression since returning to soccer this season.

The athletic striker has been one of the standout performers in the NT&DL, and he demonstrated his finishing ability once again with two excellent goals, both scored with his weaker foot.

His first was a composed side-footed finish to the near post after making a clever run off the shoulder of the centre-half, while his second was an even better effort, striking across goalkeeper Kevin Shinnors and into the far side-netting.

Fogarty's performances have also caught the attention of the Oscar Traynor management team, and with the Limerick Desmond League due to visit in two weeks' time, his potential inclusion would provide another attacking option ahead of match day two.

Shinrone hit five despite travelling with bare eleven

In the NT&DL Premier Division, Shinrone produced one of the most impressive results of the weekend as they travelled to Holycross with just eleven players and emerged with a comprehensive 5-1 victory.

Despite being forced to deploy outfield player Terry Bartlett in goal, the Offaly side showed no signs of being affected by their limited resources and ran out convincing winners.

Simon Hayes continued his excellent run of scoring form with another brace, while Kian Fallon also struck twice to add to his growing tally for the campaign.

Keith McEvoy completed the Shinrone scoring with a rare goal, while young Seamie Dwan grabbed a consolation for Holycross.

Shinrone now turn their attention to another meeting with Moneygall next weekend, in what will remarkably be the third encounter between the sides in less than 50 days, including their Munster Junior Cup clash.

Having played just five of their seven possible Premier Division opponents so far, it is an unusual scheduling situation for Shinrone, who will be hoping to continue their impressive form.

For Holycross, things do not get any easier, with Thomas Dwan's side facing a trip to Ballinree to take on a Ballymackey outfit looking to bounce back from their Munster Junior Cup defeat to Rearcross.

That game is scheduled for an 11am kick-off.

O'Dwyer hat-trick keeps Clodiagh Rangers in title hunt

In Division 2, Jim O'Dwyer was the star of the show as Clodiagh Rangers recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over Toomevara Celtic in Templetuohy on Sunday afternoon.

O'Dwyer helped himself to a superb hat-trick, doing the majority of the damage for the Drombane outfit as they continued their push towards the top of the table.

Conor Fahy was also on target for Rangers, with his goal coming courtesy of an assist from the influential O'Dwyer, who deservedly picked up the Player of the Match honours.

The result leaves Clodiagh Rangers just two points behind league leaders Nenagh Celtic, but crucially, they also have a game in hand as the title race continues to take shape.

Rearcross B denied in seven-goal thriller

There was disappointment for Rearcross B in Division 2A as their perfect start to the league campaign came to an end following a dramatic 4-3 defeat away to Knigh United.

Colm Carey's side had won their opening four league games and looked well capable of extending that run after finding the net three times in another entertaining encounter.

Mikey Feehan was among the goals for the Slieve Felim outfit, while Gavin Denihan struck twice, including a thunderous free-kick that was one of the highlights of the afternoon.

However, a late goal for the hosts ultimately proved decisive, denying Rearcross a fifth consecutive victory and bringing their winning streak to an end.

Elsewhere in Division 2A, Templetuohy's improved performances this season were not enough to earn them a result away to Nenagh Celtic B, who claimed a narrow 2-1 victory.

Stevie Owens was on target for Templetuohy, but the newly re-formed Nenagh Celtic side did enough to secure all three points.
