The Tipperary Museum of Hidden History is planning a very special heritage event

A very special event is being planned on August 23 by the  Tipperary  Museum of Hidden History to mark National Heritage Week.

The car park at Mick Delahunty Square in front of the Tipperay Museum will be transformed into a medieval settlement to celebrate Clonmel’s origins as a medieval walled town.

There will be an opportunity for visitors to interact with the living history specialists, to ask questions and handle artefacts associated with war, food, medicine and crafts.

There will also be traditional craft demonstrations in wood/stone carving, farrier, spinning and straw craft.

There will even be battle training. The School of Irish Archaeology who ran recent Tipperary Museum summer camps will be there with the Big Dig for all to take part in .

The event will run from 11am to 4pm and is a drop in style event, with free admission.

A talk on Traditional Irish dressers will be held in Clonmel Library at 11.30am – admission is free but space is limited so booking can be made on eventbrite.

Tommy Lanigan aka Balór the storyteller will entertain children from 2-3pm in Clonmel Library – again space is limited so reserve your place at eventbrite.

Art and craft family workshops will be held in the Museum at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm - again free admission but booking is required eventbrite.
