Carnival atmosphere as Camida welcomes the Liam MacCarthy Cup to Tipperary

The Tipperary senior hurling manager and players proudly brought the Liam MacCarthy Cup for a visit to Camida in Clonmel.

There was a carnival atmosphere for the occasion as Liam Cahill, captain Ronan Maher, Seamus Kennedy, and Peter McGarry of St Mary’s, Darragh McCarthy, and Rhys Shelly signed autographs and answered questions from excited pupils of Presentation Primary School who were among the guests at Camida.

Camida has provided significant support to the GAA in the county through a long-term association with ladies gaelic football and the company has given a huge boost to GAA development squads in the county.

Given the strong association the company has with GAA in the county it was fitting that the manager and players were available to illustrate just how important such support is and what can be achieved on the field as a result.

Manager Liam Cahill said he and the players enjoyed bringing the trophy to Clonmel and they were very happy to meet people and see the joy that the All-Ireland victory brought to so many people all over the county.

He said it was a privilege to be able to bring the MacCarthy Cup to Clonmel as he introduced the players to the guests on the day. The Tipperary manager advised the young people present to chase their dreams and work hard to try and make them come true.

“Give it everything you got,” he told the Presentation pupils and awestruck children of the Camida staff and he thanked Camida for their continued backing of underage development squads in the county in hurling and football

David Anchell, Managing Director of Camida, said it was a great occasion for the pupils of the Presentation and also the children of Camida staff. It was important, he said, that they saw firsthand the manager and the players and had the opportunity to meet them and ask them questions.

He described the achievements of the players as incredible and said their victory brought magic to the county.
David Anchell said the company was proud to be so involved with the GAA through the county development squads as well as their long association with supporting ladies football.

He said the company was a big believer in the GAA and what it means to every community, and said that the company also provided support to Lancashire GAA, as they have offices in the Manchester area. He has known Liam Cahill as a result of doing business with Johnson and Johnson, where Liam worked, and said he was pleased to avail of an opportunity to invite Liam Cahill and the players to Clonmel.
