The new stop will be in the Poppyfield part of town

Deputy Seamus Healy says he is “delighted” to announced that in Clonmel, the bus route 355 (the Waterford to Cahir bus) will now be stopping at Poppyfield, in the Talbot Hotel area of the town.

The new stops will be introduced by the end of this month, which will provide an “important improvement in public transport access for people living in and around Poppyfield”.“I’m delighted to have secured this positive development and will continue to work to improve public transport services across our communities”.

Elsewhere, the National Transport Authority has opened a public consultation on a review of the bus service for the whole town which is run by the Local Link, and the public are being urged to take part and have their say.

The services that are affected include those around Queen Street, Crann Ard, the Ard Gaoithe Business Park, and the Poppyfield Retail Park.

The consultation is open until October 5.
