Free period products available to community groups from Tipperary County Council

The Council was awarded funding in 2025 for the initiative to reduce period poverty, which can keep girls and women from taking part in sport, enjoying a comfortable day-to-day life, or even if they just get caught short when out-and-about
Free period products are available for distribution to those who may need them, from Tipperary County Council.
The aim of this initiative is to help reduce period poverty, and ensure that everyone has access to essential menstrual hygiene products.
The products are available to community groups, voluntary organisations, youth groups, sports clubs, schools, or other community-based services.
€15,000 was received in 2025 from the Department of Health to support period poverty mitigation measures across the county.
All public facing toilets within the Tipperary County Council MD offices and County Library Network were provided with dispensers and products. The same year, all community facilities in Carrick on Suir and Thurles were provided with a Period Poverty pack to support local needs and create awareness of the scheme.
Period poverty refers to inadequate access to menstrual hygiene, including period products (for example, sanitary towels and tampons), washing, waste management facilities and education.
