Monsignor JJ (Fr.JJ) Fennessy

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Monsignor JJ Fennessy, late of Kilnacarriga, Newcastle, Clonmel and Atlanta, Georgia, USA, who passed away unexpectedly in the care of the staff of Emory St Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta.

Ordained in 1968, Monsignor Fennessy travelled to Atlanta, Georgia where he faithfully served in nine parishes throughout his ministry. A beloved brother, uncle, granduncle, and friend, he was much loved by his parishioners and colleagues in Atlanta, as well as by his community in Newcastle, where he returned to visit every year.

Predeceased by his parents May and Thomas and his brother-in-law John O’Conner. Deeply regretted by his brother David, his sister Mary Margaret, his sister-in-law Ann, his niece Karen, her husband Gene, and their daughter Ella, his nephew Kevin and his wife Eleanor, and his niece Yvonne together with Archbishop Hartmayer and his many colleagues of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Fondly remembered by Mary and the late Walt Holst, and their extended family in Atlanta.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Monsignor JJ will be laid to rest in Atlanta with his order. Funeral details and a link to the service will be shared as they become available.

Tomás Mullally

Tomás Mullally, Green Street, Callan, Co. Kilkenny and formerly of Lismolin, Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary and London.

 

Peacefully, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny on Wednesday, 17th September 2025.

 

Pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Kitty and his brothers Gerard and PJ.

 

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sorrowing family, his brothers Bobby, Michael, John Joe and Patrick, sister-in-law Anne, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

 

May Tomás Rest in Peace.

 

Reposing at Molloy’s Funeral Home, Callan (R95 Y443) on Friday, 19th September from 5pm concluding with Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 7pm.

 

Funeral Prayers on Saturday morning, 20th September at 10.15am followed by removal to The Church of the Assumption, Callan arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am.

 

Burial will follow afterwards in Kilvemnon Cemetery, Mullinahone.

 

Catherine (Cottie) O Donnell
(née O Dwyer)

Cottie passed away peacefully at home on the 17th of September, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Pre deceased by her parents Tom and Kitty sister Patricia (Cork) and son in law Ned.

 

Sadly missed by her heartbroken husband Eamonn. Children Eamonn, Deirdre, Sinead, Jack & Gráinne. Grand children David, Eoghan, Niall, Shane, Sean, Caoimhe, Mia, Quinn, Ryan and Eimhin. Great granddaughter Eliza. Brothers Jim, Tom, Haulie and John Paul, sisters Marian and Finola. Son in law Mark, Daughter in law Margaret and Sineads partner Willie.

 

Reposing at her residence on Friday 19th September from 5-7pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday 20th September at 12 o clock in St Nicholas' Church with burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery.

Lily Wade
(née Kelly)

Lily Wade, née Kelly, Collins Park, Thurles and formerly Coolcroo, Two Mile Borris, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Unexpected but peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. In the wonderful care of the staff of Tipperary University Hospital ICU. Predeceased by her husband Michael,daughter Rachel, brothers Tom, Tim, Phil and Liam, sister Eileen (Buckley), brothers-in-law Pat and John (Wade), Jimmy (Curry) and Fred (Fields), sister-in-law Anna (Kelly). Deeply regretted by her son Mark, daughters Natalie (Hackett) and Michelle, grandchildren Chloe, Nessa and Gráinne, daughter-in-law Orla, son in law Conor, sisters Mary (Field), Joan (Curry), Patsy (O'Dwyer), Noeleen (Curtis) and Bridget (Dempsey), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, great neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing in Hugh Ryan's Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Friday 19th September from 5pm to 7pm. Arriving at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles on Saturday 20th September at 10.30am for Requiem Mass at 11am. Followed by Cremation Service in the Island Crematorium, Cork at 5pm.

Ellen O'Brien

O’Brien Ellen, Sue Ryder House, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Toor, Newport, peacefully aged 102 years on 17th September 2025. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Annie, sisters Mary and Margaret, nephew Tim Kennedy, and infant niece Mary O’Meara. Sadly missed by her loving nieces Anne and Mary, nephews Andrew and Michael, grandnieces Orna, Elizabeth and Margaret, grandnephews, Cian, John, Aaron and Dean, nieces in law, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Meehan’s Funeral Home, Newport on Friday 19th September from 6 to 7.30 p.m. with removal to the Sacred Heart Church Killoscully.

Marguerite Owens
(née Walshe)

The death has taken place of Marguerite Owens (née Walshe), Knoppoge, Mallow and formerly of Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, who passed away on September 16th 2025 at Cork University Hospital.

Beloved wife of the late Des and adored mother of Glenn and Mervyn.

 

Predeceased by her husband Des and brother Tom Walshe.

 

Sadly missed by her loving sons, her twin sister Helen (Cody) and her sister Mary (Cusack), daughters-in-law Clodagh and Mary, grandchildren Adam, Andrew, Jacquelyn, Des, Branden and Mervyn, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Jeremiah and Bridie, brothers TJ, Tom and Paddy and his sister Vera. Peacefully in the care of University Hospital Limerick. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Nuala, daughters Beatrice and Fionnuala, son Jerry, grandsons Rhys, Rían, Oisín and Tadgh ,granddaughters Alisha, Ella, Freya and Croía, sister Joan, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Whites Funeral Home, Cappawhite (E34 WR83) on Friday evening (19th September) from 5pm with removal at 7pm to St. Joseph’s Church, Hollyford arriving at 8pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning at 11.30am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Woodlands Nursing Home and Limerick Regional Hospital, for their care of Jim.
