'It was like I knew him years' - Tributes after death of school principal from Tipperary
Tributes have been paid this week after the death of Michael Moore, former principal of Ard Scoil Chiaráin, Clara, Co Offaly.
Formerly of Moyne, Templetuohy, Co. Tipperary, Michael Moore was beloved by his former colleagues and students in Clara. he is pre-deceased by his brothers Tom, Jack and Ger and his sister Mary.
According to his RIP.ie death notice, Michael will be "sadly missed by his loving wife Mary and family Michael, David, Raymond, Pauline and Stephen, daughters in law Jackie, Pollee, Chelsea and Megan, grandchildren Shelby, Rhian, Kellen, Ciara, Niamh, Ben and Juliette, great grandchildren Emerson and Rowena, his brothers Pat, Marty and Cornelious, sisters Breda and Nora, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends."
Some of his former students in Árd Scoil Chiaráin led tributes. One said: "I'm sorry to hear that Michael has passed. I'm a past pupil and have great memories of Árd Scoil Chiaràin under his tutelage. Always a pleasure to meet and was always fair and excellent in his teaching. Had the privilege of being in attendance recently while he was in hospital. A few late night chats were had. May he rest in eternal peace and comfort. Sincere condolences to his family."
A second said: "To Mary, your children, grandchildren and extended family, I am very sorry to hear about Mr Moore. He was such a kind and thoughtful Principal when I attended Àrd Scoil many years ago. He was so respectful and so fair to his pupils and in return his pupils respected him and he was very much appreciated for all the work he put in. He will be so missed by all who loved him. Rest easy, Mr Moore."

A third tribute read: "My deepest sympathy to the Moore family on the sad passing of your dear husband and father. Mr Moore was a kind and fair principal and I have great memories of my time in Ard Scoil. May his gentle soul rest in peace."
Another person remembered meeting Mr Moore in the US some years ago. They wrote: "So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I met Michael and Marya a few years ago while he was visiting Pauline and Meg in the US. I liked him right away. He appeared to be very personable and friendly. It was as though I had known him for years. He's at peace now and he will not be forgotten. I am sending My Deepest Sympathy to Mary, her children, and their Families."
Funeral Details
Reposing at his Home on Friday from 4pm until 7pm. Removal on Saturday at 12.15pm to the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore, arriving for Funeral Mass at 12.30pm. Burial after Mass in St. Colmcille's Cemetery, Durrow.
