Family of missing Tipperary man to walk over 120km to raise funds

Eoin Joy has been missing since November 3, 2025
The family of Eoin Joy has launched a fundraising campaign for the search and rescue team searching for him.
Eoin, originally from Carrick-on-Suir, went missing on November 3, 2025.
To give back to the teams that searched for Eoin during the following three weeks, the family is looking to raise €8,000.
The money will be split between Coast Guard Units, Kilkee Sub Aqua Club, and Pieta House.
In a statement published on the GoFundMe page, the Joy family said: “On the 3rd of November 2025, our lives changed forever when my brother, Eoin, tragically went missing from his home in Limerick City and took his own life at Loop Head, Co. Clare. Eoin was a deeply loved son, brother, husband and friend, and he is worth so much more than the circumstances of his death. His memory will live on in our hearts forever.
“During the darkest three weeks of our lives, a massive multi-organisation volunteer search began to bring Eoin home to us. While the search was eventually stood down without recovering Eoin's body, our family will forever be grateful for the tireless efforts, compassion, and expertise of every single volunteer who searched the seas.
“To give back, I am taking on a walking challenge. I will be walking 121 kilometres over 20 days starting on the 3rd of November—the exact distance Eoin travelled from Limerick to Clare, spanning the exact timeframe from the day he went missing to the day the search concluded.
“All funds raised will be split to support: Coast Guard Units (Kilkee, Killaloe, and Ballybunion): Unpaid volunteers who handle coastal, inland water, and cliff rescues with incredible heart; Kilkee Sub Aqua Club: A voluntary group who answered our social media plea and searched tirelessly; Pieta House: Who have provided our family with vital suicide bereavement counselling as we try to piece our lives back together.
“If you can, please support my challenge by donating, sharing this post, or joining me for a walk.”
