Kiladangan have been left waiting to discover their opponents in the FBD Insurance Tipperary Camogie Junior A Championship final as an ongoing appeals process continues to delay the conclusion of the competition

The FBD Insurance Junior A Tipperay Camogie Championship has been thrown into uncertainty following a dispute over the outcome of the semi-final between Gortnahoe Glengoole and St Rita's Fethard, which took place on Saturday, September 26.

The sides could not be separated after normal time or extra time, meaning the contest was decided by a shootout of 45s, in accordance with regulations outlined by Tipperary Camogie prior to the commencement of the championship.

Gortnahoe Glengoole emerged victorious from the shootout, seemingly booking their place in the county final against Kiladangan.

However, the result was subsequently challenged by St Rita's Fethard, who lodged an official appeal a number of days later on the grounds that the game should have been decided by penalties rather than 45s.

The Camogie Association's national regulations allow for either penalties or 45s to be used to determine the outcome of games that remain level following extra time, with the choice of which method to use left to the discretion of individual county boards.

Tipperary Camogie had contacted all participating clubs prior to the commencement of the championship, outlining that 45s would be used to decide games in the event of a draw after extra time, exercising the discretion afforded to county boards under the national regulations.

St Rita's were initially successful in their appeal, but that decision was subsequently challenged by Gortnahoe Glengoole, who brought the matter before Munster Camogie.

The provincial body overturned the earlier decision in favour of St Rita's, seemingly clearing the way for Gortnahoe Glengoole to take their place in the county final.

However, the matter has now taken another twist, with St Rita's lodging a further appeal to the national Camogie body in an effort to overturn the Munster decision.

The latest development means the outcome of the semi-final remains unresolved, with the Junior A Championship effectively on hold until the appeals process reaches its conclusion.

Kiladangan, who have already secured their place in the decider, are now left waiting to discover who they will face in the final.

Tipperary Camogie have declined to comment on the situation until the final appeal process is concluded.

With the dispute continuing through the appeals process, it remains unclear when the championship final will be played, or when a definitive decision on the semi-final result will be reached.
