Tipperary hurler Gearóid O’Connor has been named the Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Hurler of the Year following the UL campaign where the tall forward played on a star-studded UL team.

The University of Limerick student played a key part in a glittering forward line as he secured his third Fitzgibbon Cup title alongside classmates that had been part of the journey for many years.
The forward is part of Liam Cahills panel for the league final and he will be hoping to get the nod and establish himself at senior level.
While Gearóid O’Connor took the hurling award, Ciarán Caulfield of DCU, a Meath footballer, secured the 2025 Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Stars - Footballer of the Year award.
