Michael Lowry is expected to be elected on the first count tonight, based on the results of the tallies.
This would be his seventh time topping the poll.
The Tipperary TD concluded the tallies with a total of 12,343 votes, pushing him well beyond the predicted quota of 11,120.
As the count is underway, he is the heavy favourite to retain his seat, and top the polls for a seventh time.

2011: Elected on the first count to the first seat with 14,104 votes.
2007: Elected on the first count to the first seat with 12,919 votes.

1997: Elected on the first count to the first seat with 11,638 votes.
1992 (with Fine Gael): Elected on the third count to the second seat with 7,401 votes.
1989 (with Fine Gael): Elected to the third seat with 6,427 votes.
1987 (with Fine Gael): Elected to the third seat with 5,821 votes.
