Uisce Éireann
Uisce Éireann wishes to notify customers supplied by the Horse and Jockey Public Water Supply that the Boil Water Notice, in place since early September, has been lifted with immediate effect.
The Boil Water Notice was issued to protect the health of customers following consultation with the HSE.
All customers on the Horse and Jockey Public Water Supply can now resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.
The lifting of the notice follows the completion of work by Uisce Éireann to install new water mains in the area.
This has enabled the connection of customers on the Horse & Jockey supply to the Thurles Regional Water Supply Scheme, and the decommissioning of the vulnerable Horse & Jockey Scheme.
Acknowledging the challenges of the Boil Water Notice on the local community, Uisce Éireann’s operations lead Colin Cunningham said: “The completion of the connection to the Thurles Regional Water Supply Scheme will provide a more reliable water source for customers.
I would like to thank the local community for their patience and support while we completed these works that have enabled us to lift the Boil Water Notice and provide a permanent solution to water quality issues over the last while.
I’d also like to thank the local councillors and the media for their assistance in sharing the information during the period of this boil water notice.”
