A well known Tipperary insurance firm has announced that it has been acquired by a leading global insurance company.

Clonmel’s John A. O’Sullivan Insurances is to be acquired by Howden, as part of their vision to have a base in every main town in Ireland.

O’Sullivan Insurances was founded in 1978 by John and Patricia O’Sullivan, who now serve as non-executive directors of the company.

The business is now led by Sean O’Sullivan, the son of John and Patricia, and offers a wide range of commercial lines and personal lines of insurance including life and pensions services to clients across Tipperary.

Sean O’Sullivan, Managing Director of O’Sullivan Insurances said that “becoming part of Howden is truly exciting and is the right move for our business, our employees but most importantly, our clients.

“Our success to date is due to our dedicated staff and loyal client base who receive high quality general insurance services backed by strong long-standing relationships with our insurers,” Mr O’Sullivan added.

Robert Kennedy, CEO of Howden Ireland said that the move “is a key milestone for us and indicates our commitment to become the local broker of choice across Ireland.
