A fundraising event for a good cause in Tipperary will take place this coming weekend.

Tipperary Town will see a social hurling event take place on Saturday (March 1) in aid of the local branch of Meals on Wheels.

The Tipperary Town branch of Meals on Wheels delivers around 120 meals each day to people within a 10km catchment area of the west Tipperary town.

The fundraising event comes as the local group had to replace the engine in their van in December in order to keep the service running, at a cost of €6,700.
