Michael was the beloved husband of Kathleen and a loving father to Fiona (Gillis), Kevin, Catherine (Burke) and Michael.

He was a cherished grandfather to Sarah, Leo, Charlie, Joe, Emma, Cian, Shane and Cillian, and also deeply loved by his daughters-in-law Aileen and Elaine, sons-in-law Andrew and Aidan, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, neighbours and friends.

His family paid tribute to him on the Abbey Furniture Nenagh & Templemore Facebook Page, saying:

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved father, Michael Cahill, who left us peacefully last night following a brief illness.

Our parents created Abbey Furniture together over 50 years ago. It was built with hard work, love and dedication. As children, their workplace was our home — a true family business full of laughter, a hint of work on our part but always with Dad at the very centre.

His vision and dedication shaped our family and his legacy will live on through us. We will forever keep a seat for him beside us — a quiet reminder of his friendship and presence. Rest in Peace, Dad. We love you always.”

Funeral Arrangements

Michael will be reposing at Grey’s Funeral Home, Templemore on Tuesday, January 27th, from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Templemore, on Wednesday at 12 noon, followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

One person wrote: “My deepest sympathies to Michael’s family, especially his wife Kathleen and his children. Michael was a great friend of ours over the years. A truly lovely man who always had a laugh and a smile. We bought many a piece of furniture from him and always enjoyed his company. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.”

A second person said: “It was a pleasure to have known Michael, whose humour and smile brightened the day of everyone he met. My thoughts are with Michael’s loving family and friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

A third wrote: “Our deepest condolences to all the Cahill family on the passing of your father. May Michael’s soul rest in eternal peace.”
