'I'd be careful what you might wish for,' litter management proposal binned in Tipperary

The motion brought to a recent council meeting by councillor John O'Heney asked for the council to provide waste bins at a popular picnic spot in Tipperary
The motion was submitted by councillor John O'Heney at the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel council meeting this week regarding the lack of waste bins at a popular picnic area in Rossadrehid.
The motion asked for bins to be added to popular picnic areas in Rossadrehid and that those bins be added to the council's waste collection rota also.
O'Heney said "After meeting with Rossadrehid tidy towns association, these picnic tables are used all year round tidy towns need help in maintaining the picnic areas. They have a homemade bin made up themselves. Could the council add a bin?"
O'Heney told the meeting he was disappointed by the council's response.
Sharon Kennedy of planning and development in Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District responded to O'Heneys comments at the meeting. “Unfortunately we do have a level of household waste dumping, it’s been an issue where bins would have to be taken out because they were being used for household refuse. I appreciate what the community wish but in this instance I’d be careful what you might wish for."
O’Heney responded saying “I’d suggest just a small bin for picnic waste.”
Ms. Kennedy responded “They’ll find a way to put it in and if they can’t they’ll leave it at the base of it. That's my working experience.”
Cathaoirleach John Crosse concluded that while this motion was not passed they may revisit it and a compromise might be achieved.
