Litter on the walkway connecting Tipperary Town to Limerick Junction is becoming a significant problem.

Cllr Annemarie Ryan highlighted the issue of litter on the walkway at a meeting of Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District.

She told the meeting that a considerable amount of litter was accumulating on the walkway.

She told officials that the litter was unsightly and that she was concerned about the general upkeep of the walkway.

“Part of the path is muddy. There is a lot of concern about it and it should be cleaned up.

“It is very, very bad at the moment,” said Cllr Ryan.

Town Engineer James Swords told the meeting that the council tried to clean it up as often as we can.

“Litter mounts up as soon as we pick it up,” James Swords told the meeting.

Cllr Ryan said she would like to see a general clean up of the pathway.

She asked officials if it would be possible to do a clean up of the pathway once a month.
