Cllr David Dunne has announced the sad passing of his mother Joan Dunne (née Walsh).

At this especially sad time, Cllr Dunne has announced that he will be pausing canvassing for the time being ahead of the Local Elections on June 7.

Cllr Dunne said: “It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mother Joan following a long illness.

“I would like to pay tribute to all of the staff at The Dunmore Wing (UHW) who provided my mother with such loving care and attention during her illness, and who provided me and my family with the knowledge that she was treated with all the expertise, attention and kindness we could wish for.

“Due to our bereavement, I will be pausing my canvassing for the time being, to allow us to grieve the loss of such a beloved woman who gave so much to our family, friends and community throughout her life.

“I would like to thank everyone for their messages of support both now and throughout Mam’s illness.”
