ROUND UP: West Junior B Championships commenced with some good ties last weekend

Emly got their season off to a winning start when they overcame Golden/Kilfeacle in the Tipperary Co Op West Junior B Hurling championship at Emly of Friday evening.

The led at the break by 1-6 to 0-7, with the goal coming from Conor Burke after twenty-one minutes. The home side should have been further ahead at the break, as they hit some bad wides during the opening period.

Emly upped their game for the second half but two goals for the visitors, the first from Lee Hayes on forty-four minutes and the second from Padraig Dalton with nine minutes remaining kept Golden in contention up to the final whistle.

Scorers: Emly: Aidan O’Heney (0-6, 0-1f), Oisin Fawl (0-4f), Conor Burke (1-2), Shane Carroll (0-2), Diarmuid Carroll (0-2), Kevin McGrath (0-1).

Golden/Kilfeacle: Gavin Dalton (0-6f), Padraig Dalton (1-1), Lee Hayes (1-1), Tom Byrnes (0-2f), John Colohan (0-2).
