CAMOGIE ROUND-UP: Toomevara claim big win while Drom & Inch down Sarsfields

CAMOGIE ROUND-UP:

Intermediate

An understrength Kilruane side suffered a heavy defeat midweek to Newport Ballinahinch losing 2-22 to 0-4 points in Newport.
Moneygall started brightly and dominated the early exchanges with Boherlahan Dualla in their third round of the Intermediate Championship to lead 1-3 to no score.

A superb passage of play by the Boherlahan Dualla forwards resulted in Sarah Delaney blasting the sliotar to the net for the first score for the visitors.

Boherlahan found themselves seven points down at half (1-9 to 1-2) but came back fighting in the second half and worked very hard to narrow the Moneygall lead to two points late in the second half but Moneygall held out for the win with Mary Ryan leading the defence and Niamh Larkin finishing with 1-4.

For Boherlahan some very accurate free-taking by Emma Horgan proved crucial along with great work from their defence, especially full-back Aoife Kavanagh. Toomevara recorded their win in the championship since 2019 when they defeated Cahir away from home 1-16 to 1-8.

Their crucial goal came 20 minutes into the second half courtesy of Shauna Quirke. Others to impress for Toomevara were Aidean Hogan and Laoise Cummins while keeper Sarah McCarthy pulled off some great saves. Overall it was a great team performance by the league champions to secure a vital win.
