Junior Golf Committee
It is time to salute our Junior Golf Committee at Co Tipperary Golf & Country Club. The amount of work done, and commitment this group of people make to the future of golf in Dundrum has to be seen to be believed. It is a great pleasure to see so many young golfers out playing or taking lessons. All of this has to be organised and supervised; well done to all the adults that give of their time and energy.

The Junior Club at Dundrum goes back many years. The very first junior officer was Des O’Neill. One of the highlights of Des’s time was organising 16 of our juniors at the time, to go to the Irish open at Adare to play the very important role of communicating to the golf commentators where the ball landed. It allowed the commentators on radio and television to give an accurate distance before the advantage of modern technology.

John Ryan (Con) representing the Men’s club and Mary Maher and Flan McGlinchey representing the ladies club got involved and made a huge contribution to the Junior Club.

Also involved at a later stage we had, Nicola Wade, Ailbe Maher and Mary Hickey.

In 2018 Pat Ryan & Marie Graves got involved.

The current committee are; Marie Graves. Pat Ryan, Anita O’Donoghue Oisin Slattery, Rochelle O’Sullivan, Triona Buckley & Helena Ryan.

We have 110 juniors aged between 6 and 18 years of age. They are a lovely group of Junior Golfers, so pleasant to work with and so enthusiastic to learn about golf. They are also very interested in knowing the code of good conduct on the course in-keeping with the good spirit of golf
