SETU Carlow are into the knockout stages of the Fitzgibbon Cup after a convincing win over UCD at Belfield with Kilkenny forward Eoin Cody the main in the victory, finishing the game with 2-4.

The Carlow college can now look forward to facing SETU Waterford in the quarter-finals next Wednesday.

There was a single Tipperary representative on each team here, with Joe Fogarty (Moneygall) playing the full game before being withdrawn late in added time and he managed to score one point during his time on the pitch.

Eoin Purcell (Thurles Sarsfields) was brought on around the 45th minute to try and salvage something for UCD be he couldn't influence the game and Carlow ran out easy winners.
