RIP: Motorcyclist, 70s, tragically killed in collision with van in Tipperary

Gardaí are investigating after a man in his 70s was killed following a road traffic collision in Cahir, County Tipperary on Sunday morning, 21 September.

The fatal two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a van occurred on the N24 at Cahir at approximately 11.05am on Sunday morning.

Gardaí have confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

They added that no other injuries have been reported at this time.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera or dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 10.45am and 11.15am on Sunday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Gardaí said that investigations into the crash are ongoing.

The tragic news comes following a devasting 24 hours on Irish roads as another man was killed in Cork on Saturday night after being hit by a car on the M8 motorway and four people were left in serious condition after a separate crash on the M9 motorway in Kilkenny.
