North Tipperary County Council have compiled an archive of material in digital format in relation to burial grounds in North Tipperary. This work has been undertaken by Deirdre Hough and is substantially complete.

The work consists a map of all known burial grounds in North Tipperary; photographs of all known burial grounds in North Tipperary; a searchable digital record of many burial grounds in North Tipperary, returning complete details from the burial ground register for that location. We are hoping to complete the searchable index of burial grounds in the near future; a list of all known locations where gravestone inscriptions have been taken and by whom.

The council is currently engaged in the scanning of the original register so that a copy of the handwritten record will be available.

This is a very significant project and constitutes a dramatic increase in accessibility to a primary historical resource. This work has been undertaken by Deirdre Hough, with the support of North Tipperary County Council, and we thank her for it.
