Busy year ahead for North Tipperary Macra

Cyclists and crew from Devils Bit Macra who completed Malin Head to Mizen Head Challenge in aid of Embrace Farm

The North Tipp Macra year for 2018/19 is well and truly under way, with a number of events having already taken place and many more coming up.
International Miss Macra
It all kicked off in Thurles on the August bank holiday, with Clodagh Macra's Grainne Harrington representing North Tipp in the International Miss Macra Festival. Grainne has been involved in both club and country level for a number of years now taking part in all competitions. Grainne represented Clodagh, and North Tipp fantastically, and we are all very proud. Well done Grainne!
Malin Head to Mizen Head Challenge
On Monday 6th of August, 7 members of the Devil's Bit Macra set off on the Malin Head to Mizen Head challenge in aid of Embrace Farm. Despite the tough conditions and a few minor accidents along the way, they managed to complete the course within 5 days, arriving at Malin Head just after lunchtime on Friday where they were greeted by friends and family. The group have so far raised an incredible amount of over €11,000 for Embrace. There is still time left to donate, and if you wish to do so, you can contact any of the cyclists, or the Devil's Bit Macra facebok page.
From Bantry to Tullamore Show
On Sunday 12th of August, we headed for the Tullamore show to support Thurles Macra in the FBD National Farm Skills Finals. Conor Ryan, Davy Lowry and Tomas Ryan put through their paces in carrying out a variety of farm tasks, including safe tractor driving, fencing skills and agricultural knowledge. They were unlucky to miss out on a prize on the day with tough competition. However, all three team members really enjoyed the experience and gained many new skills which they look forward to applying at home on their own farms.
Tayto Park
North Tipp Macra headed to Tayto Park for our first social outing of the 2018/19 year. We set off bright and early on Saturday 1st of September and enjoyed an action packed, sunny day complete with rollercoasters, a petting zoo and facepainting. A stop for food on the way home finished off what was a very memorable day for all!
