Derry Magistrate's Court
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with an assault on his mother and breaching his bail.
Willie McDonagh (18) of Woodland Avenue in Derry was charged with the assault on February 25.
The alleged assault, which was against his mother, caused her to revoke her home as a bail address, leading to the breach.
Police objected the application as McDonagh was on bail for 'very serious offences' including robbery, possession of an offensive weapon, attempted kidnapping and fraud.
The previous incident occurred last year when McDonagh and another man pulled a knife and screwdriver on a man, demanding his phone, bank card, pin and cash.
The two claimed to be from the IRA and used the card to take out cash, something which was seen on CCTV.
The court also heard how McDonagh and his mother had been arguing prior to the incident and how his mother was struggling to keep him in the house with her three younger children.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that McDonagh had been on bail for 'about six months' and added that the incident came after a 'very heated argument'.
District Judge Barney McElhom said that McDonagh had 'clearly reoffended' and revoked bail. He will appear again on March 21.
