Dromineer Community issues warning over dangerous behaviour at harbour

Parents are being urged to remind children and teenagers that swimming is prohibited in Dromineer Harbour amid growing concerns over dangerous and anti-social behaviour.

In a public notice, Dromineer Community said swimming in the harbour is not permitted and warned that the area presents a significant safety risk due to boats manoeuvring in and out of the jetty.

The group also raised concerns about people boarding and jumping from privately-owned boats, describing the behaviour as trespassing and warning that An Garda Síochána will be contacted if it continues.

"Some of the behaviour in the harbour has been disgraceful and will not be tolerated any longer," the statement said.

The community group is encouraging swimmers to use the nearby designated bathing area instead, where lifeguards are on duty daily from 11am to 7pm during the bathing season.

Parents are being asked to speak to their children about the risks associated with swimming in the harbour and to encourage them to use the supervised beach, where safety measures are in place.
