Kyle Park NS is saying goodbye to Mrs Murphy after a long and successful career at the school
Kyle Park National School is preparing to say farewell to Mrs Marie Murphy, who will retire on Friday, October 23, after almost 37 years working at the school.
The school has invited past and present members of the school community to call in from 1pm onwards on Friday to wish Marie well as she brings her long career at Kyle Park to a close.
Marie has spent almost four decades at the school, during which time she has seen significant changes in its size and facilities. She spent 23 years teaching in the infant room when Kyle Park was a two-teacher school. The school has since grown and now has four classroom teachers and two Special Education Teachers (SET).
When Marie became principal, she moved to teaching the older children and has remained teaching in the middle and senior classes since. She has been teaching Sixth Class this year and is now finishing off the administrative work before handing over the reins.
Her hard work and dedication have also contributed to the development of the school's facilities. During her time as principal, the school has seen the addition of an extension incorporating two SET rooms, as well as a new modular building.
Marie has been described by the school as a fantastic leader who keeps everyone motivated. Her calm and collected approach in any situation has earned her great admiration and respect throughout the school community.
While she will be sorely missed, there is great happiness that she will now have time to relax after her many years of service.
The school has extended its very best wishes to Marie as she begins her retirement, recognising her dedication and the contribution she has made to Kyle Park National School over almost 37 years.
Past and present members of the school community are welcome to call in from 1pm on Friday, October 23, to have a quick chat with Marie or wave her off as she embarks on this new chapter.
