The North Tipperary Beekeepers Association (NTBKA) has made a generous donation of €2,000 to Penny Dinners Cork in support of the charity’s ongoing work providing food and clothing to vulnerable people.
The donation followed a kind gesture from one of the association’s members who was scaling back their beekeeping activities and donated a large quantity of beekeeping equipment and bees to NTBKA.
The member and his wife requested that, in lieu of retaining the value of the donation, NTBKA would instead make a charitable contribution to Penny Dinners Cork.
During the summer, representatives of NTBKA travelled to Cork to present the €2,000 donation to the well-known charity.
NTBKA is a long-established organisation that continues to thrive as a vibrant association dedicated to promoting and educating beekeeping in North Tipperary.

The association is affiliated with the Federation of Irish Beekeepers’ Associations (FIBKA) and plays an active role in supporting both hobbyist and experienced beekeepers in the region.
The association operates a teaching apiary on the extended grounds of Holycross Abbey, where members receive hands-on practical training in beekeeping.
This practical instruction is complemented by scientific study sessions and lectures throughout the year. Members also have the opportunity to undertake formal study and sit FIBKA examinations in beekeeping.
NTBKA is delighted to once again host the national FIBKA examinations this year at Intermediate and Senior levels at the FET College in Templemore.
The association has expressed its appreciation for the continued support of the college, which plays a key role in facilitating NTBKA’s educational activities.
Looking ahead, NTBKA will be running a beginners’ beekeeping course starting in February 2026.
Anyone interested in booking a place or seeking further information is encouraged to contact the association by email at northtippbees.secretary@ gmail.com or by phone on 086 195 8442.
