Killea National School - We were thrilled to be contacted by Kathleen Collier and invited to participate in the wonderful project. Within days the timber frame was delivered to us and we set to work on brainstorming our ideas. Aisling Yates took ownership of the project and set about enthusing the children and encouraging a full school participation. The prefab became an artist’s hub and the creativity began. With lots of scope given to us in respect of the theme, it was amazing to hear all the ideas coming our way. Killea, the Devil’s Bit, the swans and the fountain in the park all came out as the top selections to be somehow included in our painting. Over the last two weeks, old clothes were brought to school daily and the buzz and excitement was palpable. The fun putting on the old painting clothes to escape to the prefab and be creative was fabulous. Great pride was taken with the inclusion of The Cross on top of our beautiful Devil’s Bit and also the choice of red and white to frame our painting as these are the colours of Killea N.S.
