Award-winning filmmaker and musician to have film screened in Tipperary

Nick Kelly’s film ‘The Song Cycle’ will be shown in the Source Arts Centre
Acclaimed filmmaker and musician Nick Kelly brings eco-friendly tour 'The Song Cycle' to the Source Arts Centre this June.
The Source Arts Centre will host a special screening of the uplifting documentary 'The Song Cycle' on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 2pm.
The event pairs cinema with environmental action, featuring a live musical performance by director, musician, and filmmaker Nick Kelly.
'The Song Cycle' chronicles the extraordinary journey of Nick Kelly, celebrated frontman of The Fat Lady Sings and director of The Drummer and the Keeper, as he cycles from Ireland to the Glastonbury Festival.
Driven by sustainability concerns, Kelly, and a companion travel entirely by bicycle, performing acoustic gigs at various stops along the way.
The documentary offers a humorous, thought-provoking, and moving exploration of music, enduring friendship, and green travel.
To align with the film's core message, Kelly is undertaking a unique mini tour across Ireland using sustainable transit.
He will cycle directly to the Thurles venue.
Following the film screening in the intimate 250-seat theatre, Kelly will take the stage to perform a live, short acoustic music set and engage with the audience.
"We are delighted to welcome Nick Kelly to Thurles for this highly unique event," said Artistic Director Brendan Maher at the Source Arts Centre.
"This project beautifully bridges art and environmental awareness, showing how creative communities can champion sustainability in practical, joyful ways."
Nick Kelly is one of Ireland's most versatile creative talents, spanning a highly successful career across both music and film.
He first gained national and international prominence as the frontman and songwriter for the acclaimed 1990s alternative rock band The Fat Lady Sings.
Following his time with the band, he released well-received solo work under the moniker Alien Envoy.
Transitioning into filmmaking, Kelly achieved major critical success with his debut feature film, The Drummer and the Keeper (2017).
The film won Best First Irish Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh and received an Irish Film and Television Award.
Known for his deeply human storytelling, Kelly combines his passions for music, film, and environmental activism in this latest project.
The screening will take place at 2pm on Tuesday, June 23, with entry costing €10.
