Housing development planned in grounds of protected structure in Tipperary

A development of over 40 semi-detached and terraced houses is planned in the grounds of Innisfail House in Thurles.
A planning application has been submitted to Tipperary County Council by Coolross Homes Ltd for a 42 house development at Innisfail, Kickham Street, Thurles.
It will involve a mix of two storey semi-detached houses of two, three and four bedrooms. It will also include a two-storey terrace of one and two bed apartments.
One block of the development will be three-storey in type, with two semi-detached 4-bedroom houses.
There are 9 different blocks of houses proposed in the planning application.
The development will also involve a proposed new site entrance with access roads and footpaths.
The development will also require new site boundary treatments, new waste, water and utility service connections and all associated site works.
The works are proposed to be carried out in the grounds of the protected structure.
The planning application was submitted on Friday, July 24, with a decision due on September 17.
Innisfail House was built in 1898. It is a detached two-storey, L-plan house described as a Victorian suburban villa.
It sits on a site of 2.5 acres with dual road frontage from Kickham street and Borroway.
