The €500,000 winner purchased their winning EuroMillions ticket at a service station in Carrick-on-Suir.

A Tipperary EuroMillions Plus player is celebrating in style after claiming the top prize of €500,000 in last Friday night's EuroMillions Plus draw, with plans already underway for a trip to New York.

The winning ticket was purchased at Texaco Spar Service Station, John Street, Carrick-on-Suir ahead of the EuroMillions and EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday, 9th October.

The delighted winner revealed that they realised they had won shortly after the draw while checking the results online.

"I checked the results that night on the website,” they explained. "I realised I had matched all five numbers but when Tipperary was published as the winning county, I knew it was me. I couldn't believe it."

The days following the win have been a whirlwind of emotions, with excitement quickly joined by nerves as the reality of holding a €500,000 winning ticket sank in.

"It has been a mix of excitement and nerves. To be honest, I haven't been able to sleep since the win. There hasn't been much talk of celebrations yet because I was so focused on keeping the ticket safe. Now that I've handed it over, I can finally start making some plans."

Like many National Lottery winners, safeguarding the precious ticket became a top priority. "I put it into a shoebox and placed it high up in the wardrobe," the winner laughed. "I knew exactly where it was at all times."

With the claim now complete, attention is turning to how the player will mark the occasion. "I'm planning a trip to New York, it’s been high on my bucket list. What a way to celebrate!"

The Tipperary player was one of two EuroMillions Plus players to win the top prize of €500,000 in the space of just five days. While the Tipperary winner has already come forward to claim their prize, a second €500,000 winning ticket from Tuesday (13th October) night's EuroMillions Plus draw is waiting to be claimed.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lawless's Shop, Boolavogue, Ferns, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. The National Lottery is urging players in the area to check their tickets carefully. With two €500,000 EuroMillions Plus winners already recorded this week, could a third top-prize winner be crowned in the space of just seven days?

Meanwhile, tonight's EuroMillions jackpot is an estimated €50 million. Players are reminded that tickets can be purchased nationwide in-store, through the National Lottery app or online at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.30pm sales cut-off this evening.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total, over €7 billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 39 years ago. In 2024 alone, €239.3 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
