The landslide victory of Catherine Connolly in the Presidential Election has been welcomed by Tipperary public representative Cllr Annemarie Ryan.

The Tipperary Town-based councillor said she believed that Catherine Connolly would be a President for all.
"Catherine comes from a family of 14, was reared in social housing in Galway, cares deeply about people's right to housing, the rights of carers, and people with disabilities, loves our Irish language and culture and our unique landscape and believes in a fair and equal society," said Cllr Ryan.
"Catherine is a strong voice for peace, needed now more than ever in a world of division and violence.
Catherine ran as an Independent candidate, with the support of some opposition parties, she united us all and showed us what we can achieve when we work together.

I want to say thank you to everyone who went out knocking on doors, talking to people, and listening to everyone's opinions. We didn't always agree but we were lucky that 99% of the conversations were respectful, on all sides. I canvassed alongside my own Sinn Féin Tipperary party friends, non-party people, and other party members, and it was a great experience. thanks again to everyone for their kindness and support," said Cllr. Ryan
