Members of Tipperary Town Special Olympics are celebrating after one of their members brought home a medal from the recent winter games.
Frank O'Dwyer, of Tipperary Town Special Olympics won a bronze medal in floorball at the recent World Winter Games in Turin, Italy.
Frank was the captain of the team that placed third on the podium at the games in Italy, and the win comes after Team Ireland's win over Switzerland, and a loss to Costa Rica.
Speaking about his team's success, Mr O'Dwyer said that it was "absolutely brilliant".
"I’m so delighted, so proud. I’m so happy that I’m here for my country. Come on Ireland! The supporters are brilliant – they’ve been here for all of it.
"They’ve been supporting us every day since we came here, since the first day. I’m so delighted to take home a medal," Frank said.
Director of Marketing, Communications and Fundraising for Special Olympics Graham Roe said: “The athletes and coaches of Team Ireland have led from the front all week, knowing everyone at home is backing them.
"It takes grassroots support across the island of Ireland to make this possible. A club to back each athlete, and a community to support each club," Mr Roe added.
