A Tipperary motorist driving through Laois on Friday evening was alerted to a mobile speed camera just outside Portlaoise through the Google Maps in his car.
The alert - which appeared on the infotainment system - came about as a result of one report "from Google Maps drivers".
The alert also offered the motorist the option of confirming that the speed camera was still present at the location and once "Still there" was selected, a message popped up to say: "Thanks for helping others."
