South Tipperary Hospice is asking Montessori’s, creches, pre-schools and primary schools across the county to host a Hospice Sunflower Fun Day this June to help them to raise vital funds as part of this year’s Hospice Sunflower Days campaign.

It has never been easier to get involved, simply select the date in June you would like to run your Hospice Sunflower Fun Day and register at www.sunflowerdays.ie.

Participants receive a welcome pack which includes colouring pages and sunflower seeds for the children to plant during the Fun Day. Families are asked to make a €2 donation, or whatever they can afford, with all funds raised going directly to South Tipperary Hospice.

Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement, represents 24 hospices nationwide and co- ordinates the annual Hospice Sunflower Days event. Every euro raised locally, stays locally and the funds raised play a vital role in supporting the delivery of specialist palliative care in communities across Ireland. The funds raised will be used for Health Care Assistants, Volunteer Driving Scheme, Complementary Therapies, Music Therapy, Counselling Services, Bereavement Support Groups and
we are introducing at the moment and starting to take bookings for much needed Grief Counselling for Children.

Speaking about the Hospice Sunflower Fun Day initiative, Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassador, Maia Dunphy, commented, “With hospices throughout the country needing to raise approximately €20 million each year to continue to provide specialist care for patients and their families, our help is so important. By getting involved with the Hospice Sunflower Fun Day initiative this June, schools, creches, Montessori’s and pre-schools throughout the country will make a huge difference to their local hospice.”
