Tipperary TD Michael Lowry has paid a visit to the 100-year-old "Queen of Boherlahan" Betty Corbett.

On Friday, the Independent TD said: "I made a visit today to see my friend, Betty Corbett.

"Betty - the Queen of Boherlahan - is 100 years young. She looks lovely and is in great form, and is healthy and happy."

He added: "Betty retains her zest for life and, as always, is witty and great company. 

"As always, it was a joy to spend some time with her."
